There weren't a lot of shots in the first period at Memorial Coliseum -- 10 for the Komets, 6 for Evansville -- but there were some great saves.
Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher and Evansville's Pier-Olivier Pelletier are the reason this is tied at 1.
Boucher was bested on the first shot of the game by Nicklas Lindberg. And Colin Chaulk tied it for the Komets, scoring into an open net after Jesse Bennefield circled the goal and sent a pass through the crease.
Good intensity in the game so far. Not very good officiating, though. Referee Steve Cruickshank missed a blatant slash by Philippe Plante on Artem Podshendyalov and he also ignored a play on which Bobby Chaumont was held for several strides down the ice.
By the way, Fort Wayne's Chris Hoy is one of the linesmen.
