Suspended receiver will not play in bowl

Purdue football coach Danny Hope announced wide receiver O.J. Ross will not play in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, according to multiple media reports.

Ross was suspended indefinitely on Dec. 6 for “failure to adhere to team policy and rules.”

“O.J. worked really hard to get his school work done but he had to miss a lot of practice time,” Hope said Sunday, according to the Lafayette Journal and Courier. “I believe he got all of his school work done but ... he’s not going to participate in the bowl game. We’re pleased with the effort he put in towards the end and we’re looking forward to him coming back in January and starting over and being all he can be in the classroom and on the field.”

Ross is third on the team with 33 catches and 356 receiving yards. He has three touchdown catches.
