Building products company to close

A Kosciusko County manufacturer is closing its plant as of March 1, putting 60 employees out of work, according to a state filing.

Royal Building Products makes siding, trim, molding, decks, fences and other products for the home construction market. The operation at 401 E. Syracuse St., Milford, is owned by Georgia Gulf Corp.

The workers are not represented by a union, according to a letter dated Dec. 14, written by Peter Orebaugh, business director.

The federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act requires employers to notify local and state officials at least 60 days before mass layoffs and plant closings.

“Some employees will be retained for a period of time following the closure,” Orebaugh wrote to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
