Wawasee boys hit skids

SYRACUSE – The pace for the high-flying Wawasee boys basketball team has hit a lull in the form of a two-game losing streak after winning their first five games.

The Warriors (5-2) dropped a 73-64 decision to Columbia City (5-1) on Tuesday on the heels of a 72-52 loss to Kosciusko County rival Warsaw in their previous game.

Wawasee, which averages 75 points per game, has struggled offensively as teams seem to be locking on defensively.

Jacob Thompson led the Warriors with 30 points, but looked to be a bit tired in the fourth quarter playing in Wawasee’s frenzied style.

Wawasee led 54-51 in the fourth, but came up short on too many free throws the rest of the way after making them in the first three quarters.
