IPFW routed at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE - IPFW won the second half.

After an 81-56 loss to Purdue on Tuesday at Mackey Arena, that's all you need to know how badly the Boilermakers dominated the Mastodons in the first half.

Purdue (10-3) rolled to a 50-23 halftime lead and cruised for the remaining 20 minutes to end IPFW's (7-4) five-game winning streak.

The Boilers were sensational in the first half when they hit 21 of 30 shots. As a contrast, IPFW was 8 of 30 and were never in the game from the beginning.

IPFW, which outscored Purdue 33-31 in the final half, was led by freshman guard Joe Edwards' 12 points, and center Trey McCorkle finished with 10.

Leading scorer Frank Gaines, who entered the game with a 21.3 average, scored 9 points on 2 of 11 shooting from the floor.
