More on Phillips incident

In regards to the Bob Phillips incident mentioned in this article, I heard from someone who was actually in the locker room but wished to remain nameless.

"Phillips had his eyes scratched by (Jeff) Leverman and was absolutely enraged," the person wrote. "He backed off spearing him just before he got to the (penalty) box. There wasn’t much of a fight in the box at all. Bob walked across the scorers' table and his skates cut the score sheets to pieces. He went in the Komet dressing room and destroyed the laundry cart.

"As he came back out to return to the ice and continue, he was met by Sgt. James 'Satch' Crawford of the (Fort Wayne Police Department). Satch just recently passed away. ... (Crawford told me) once that if Bob wanted to really go back out on the ice there was no way he could have stopped him. Jim was 6-foot-4 and as strong as a bull. I have talked to Bob many times since then and he would be the first to tell you Jim Crawford saved his career and probably from going to jail."

As for tonight's game between the Komets and Texas, what you need to know is that it's Fort Wayne's top-ranked offense (3.77 goals per game) against the Brahmas' top-ranked defense (2.64 goals against per game).

Chris Auger was put on injured reserve with a concussion, but defenseman Dustin Molle is back from his groin injury. Still out are forward Jean-Michel Rizk (knee) and defenseman Tristin Llewellyn (shoulder).
