A tractor-trailer rig carrying 40,000 pounds of Edy's ice cream tipped over on its side this afternoon, closing southbound lanes of Interstate 69 just north of Lima Road.
The crash happened shortly before 4 p.m., spilling cartons of vanilla, caramel praline crunch and other flavors onto the interstate.
A Fort Wayne police sergeant at the scene said the truck was attempting to get on the interstate using the ramp when it tipped, possibly because it was going too fast or the load shifted.
Police said the truck driver had minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital to be checked out.
The two right southbound lanes are expected to be shut down for four to six hours, police said. The left lane is clear for traffic.
