Byrd update

Russell Byrd, a Blackhawk Christian graduate, came into the game averaging 1.8 points this season for the Spartans. He did not play in Michigan State's 80-65 win.

A redshirt freshman, he's appeared in 12 games. In 94 minutes, Byrd has 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. He is 5 of 21 shooting three-pointers.

Byrd has had three surgeries on his left foot since May 2010.
