Irish fall in Champs Sports Bowl

ORLANDO, FLA. – Notre Dame fell 18-14 to Florida State in the Champs Sports Bowl on Thursday thanks to a familiar foe – turnovers.

The Irish committed three turnovers as quarterback Tommy Rees was intercepted twice in the end zone and Andrew Hendrix was picked off once deep in his own territory.

After playing strong for most of the first three quarters, the Irish defense gave up 18 straight points to fall behind 18-14 with 8:04 to play.

The Seminoles started their comeback with an 18-yard touchdown catch by Bert Reed 6 seconds into the fourth.

Florida State scored again 1:36 later after an interception put the Seminoles on Notre Dame's 18 and Rashad Greene hauled in a 15-yard TD catch. The Seminoles failed to convert the 2-point play after each touchdown.
