Thousands of canopy beds recalled

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Pottery Barn Kids announced Thursday a voluntary recall of Madeline canopy beds.

It said the connections of the posts to the top rails can come apart, allowing components of the canopy to fall. Thirty-three such reports have been received by the company. One person needed stitches and nine other minor injuries were reported.

The canopy is part of the Madeline Bedroom Collection.

More than 7,000 were sold at Pottery Barn Kids stores nationwide, online at and through Pottery Barn Kids catalogs from December 2003 until August 2011.

Those with the beds are urged to remove the canopy immediately and contact Pottery Barn Kids to schedule a free repair. For information, call toll-free 855-662-4114 or visit the company's website at
