One period to play, and the Komets still lead, 2-1.
They have Stephon Thorne to thank for that. After Bloomington scored 38 seconds into the second period to tie it at 1 -- the Komets got caught up-ice on a break and Vladimir Nikiforov cashed the breakaway -- Thorne fought off a defender in the corner, circled behind the net and stuffed the puck between the post and Brian Mahoney-Wilson. That came at 4:50, with the Komets skating a man short.
Other than that, a pretty decent one-rounder between former teammates Kaleigh Schrock and Craig Cescon. Both got in some solid shots to the head before Shrock wound up on top of Cescon on the ice. My scorecard had it even.
Later with the final.
