Mad Ants making moves

The Mad Ants are moving, and not just downward in the D-League standings.

Hoping to shake things up after a four-game losing streak, the Ants released shooting guard Corey Allmond and have unofficially traded veteran forward Marvin Phillips Jr., pending league approval.

Allmond, who averaged 15.5 points per game, was waived by the team. Taking his roster spot is 6-foot-6 swing man Gilbert Brown, out of Pittsburgh.

Allmond, a streak-shooting three-point specialist, went 1-for-8 from the floor and 0-for-6 from three-point range in the Ants' recent overtime loss to Los Angeles. In his last four games, Allmond was 11 of 44 overall and 6 of 28 from behind the arc.

Phillips, meanwhile, has reportedly been traded to Erie for a fourth-round draft pick next season. He was averaging 11 points per game, and led the team with 7.9 rebounds per game.

The Ants (4-8) play host to Canton (7-6) at Memorial Coliseum today.

Guard Darington Hobson, acquired from the Milwaukee Bucks earlier this week, is listed as a probable starter for the Ants.
