IPFW showing defense

Maligned for its recent defense, or lack thereof, IPFW has shown a tendency to stop the other guy in the first half of Tuesday's Summit League game against Southern Utah.

Although the Thunderbirds are shooting at a .526 clip from the floor (10 of 19), IPFW has had good defensive intensity while taking a 36-29 lead at Memorial Coliseum.

IPFW's leading scorer, Frank Gaines, picked up his second foul with 13:11 remaining in the half and sat out the balance of the half, but center Trey McCorkle has answered with a game-high 12 points. Isaiah McCray has come off the bench to add 8 points and 5 rebounds for the Mastodons.
