Within five minutes of seeing this blog, Komets executive vice-president of sales and marketing Scott Sproat sent me a text message informing me that Billy Elvis will "not be involved with the Komets moving forward."
Elvis, a local disc jockey arrested Sunday on charges of drunken driving and possession of marijuana, had been filling in occasionally for Wade Weaver as an emcee at Komets games.
"Wade Weaver is and will continue to be our in-game promotions announcer. Billy Elvis will no longer be filling in," Sproat wrote.
Sproat wrote that Elvis hadn't been scheduled for future games anyway, because Weaver was slated to return Friday. But, according to Sproat, Elvis' arrest "would and will influence" decisions on him working with the Komets in the future.
