Target recalls LED flashlights

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Target today announced a voluntary recall of 55,000 six-piece LED flashlight sets.

When turned on, the flashlights can heat up, smoke or melt, posing fire and burn hazards, the announcement said. The company has received reports of four incidents, including two minor burn injuries.

The flashlights are made of silver plastic, with black rubber around the handle and light base. The flashlight sets have UPC code 490021010049 printed on the back of the package.

The flashlights sets were sold exclusively at Target stores nationwide from October 2010 through December 2011 for about $10.

Those with the flashlights are urged to stop using them immediately and return them to any Target store for a full refund.

Target Corp. imported the flashlights from China.
