Car of slaying victim, 21, recovered

Jones

Investigators have found a car that belonged to the victim of a recent homicide, Fort Wayne police said Thursday.

Police said Wednesday they were looking for Michael Jamar Jones’ car, a blue 2005 Chevrolet Impala with tinted windows and a personalized Indiana plate that read “MIKE74.”

Officer Raquel Foster, a police spokeswoman, declined to say where it was found. She said it was unoccupied and would likely yield clues in the case, in which police have no suspects.

Jones, 21, was found shot to death Monday in his home at 645 Anderson Ave., just north of downtown and east of Spy Run Avenue. Police said his sister discovered him and that it appeared his body had been there for a few days. His car was last seen Dec. 28 by his home.

Court documents filed Thursday mention Jones’ car. According to the documents, police were looking for the car Dec. 3 in connection with a report of shots fired, and they found it stopped in the 200 block of West Leith Street.
