Notre Dame put Connecticut away at the free-throw line in a 74-67 overtime victory Saturday in Purcell Pavilion.
The No. 3 Irish (15-1, 3-0 Big East) scored seven of their 11 points in overtime at the line with Natalie Novosel making six free throws. Skylar Diggins also made the other free throw.
The victory was Notre Dame's second in a row over No. 2 UConn (12-2, 2-1). The Irish beat the Huskies in last season's NCAA tournament semifinals.
Diggins led the Irish offense with 22 points, and Novosel had 20.
Novosel had a chance to win the game in regulation after UConn freshmen Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis committed a turnover with 4.1 seconds to play. But Novosel's layup wouldn't fall sending the game to OT tied at 63.
