Notre Dame landed an oral commitment from safety Elijah Shumate today, according to reports.

Shumate made his announcement during NBC's broadcast of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

The product of Don Brosco Prep in Ramsey, N.J., is rated a four-star recruit by Rivals.com. He is the sixth defensive back and 18th commitment in the Irish's 2012 recruiting class.
