Western Illinois to give IPFW good test

Over the past few seasons, Western Illinois has been somewhat of an afterthought on IPFW's Summit League schedule; a team that could be dangerous, but rarely was.

But as the Mastodons are a few moments away from playing the Leathernecks at Memorial Coliseum, this Western Illinois team could be problematic.

The two teams have similar records. Western is 8-5 overall and 3-2 in the Summit; IPFW is 9-6 and 3-3.

Western will test IPFW defensively. While IPFW gives up a whopping 75.6 points per game, Western Illinois averages 58.3 defensively, and that could be the difference today.

IPFW will be hampered without 6-10 center Trey McCorkle, who will miss the game due to an injury he sustained against IUPUI two days ago.

McCorkle remains on a day-to-day basis. The Mastodons' next game is a week from today against Oakland.
