Something weird in the air

The Komets and Dayton Gems are scoreless after one period at Memorial Coliseum, and I just have a feeling something weird is going to happen.

I think it's the combination of it being the third game in as many days -- and it wasn't a bad period, considering that -- between the same teams.

Also, the referee, Joshua Stockel, has already lost control of this game. No one knows what he's calling. He's either missed or ignored a lot. And there are a lot of elbows flying out there.

Gerry Festa, who is making his debut with the Komets, looks solid. He's got eight saves. Bryan Hogan has 14 for Dayton, and he's stopped Brett Smith on a breakaway and a 2-on-1 rush.
