Marve granted sixth year, will return to Purdue

Purdue quarterback Robert Marve was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA and will play for the Boilermakers in 2012, the school announced in a news release Friday.

"I am extremely blessed by the NCAA's decision and proud to be at Purdue for another season," Marve said in a statement. "I'm looking forward to next year and winning games for the Boilermakers."

Marve missed all of the 2007 season, his true freshman year at Miami, because of injury. He was limited to just four games with Purdue in 2010 after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament on Sept. 25 against Toledo.

"In all of my years of coaching, I've never been around a player that has worked so hard at becoming an elite athlete and, because of injury, has seen so little reward for his efforts. This is a big boost to our program getting him back," Purdue coach Danny Hope said in a statement.

Marve complete 61 of 109 pass attempts for 633 yards and four touchdowns in 2011.
