Arts update

Fort Wayne – AT THE LIBRARY:

•The Aboite branch, 5630 Coventry Lane, will have “Art for Homeschoolers” at 2 p.m. Thursdays.

•The Grabill branch, 13521 State St., Grabill, will have “Home School Felting Fun” at 10:30 a.m. today.

•The New Haven branch, 648 Green St., New Haven, will have “Art Academy Imaginationeers” at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

•The Pontiac branch, 2215 S. Hanna St., has “Sit and Stitch” knitting at 4:30 p.m. Thursdays.

•The Woodburn branch, 4701 Indiana 101 N., will have “Yarn Lover’s Gathering” at 7 p.m. Thursdays.

AUDITIONS:

•Tibbits Young Audiences has scheduled auditions for “Captain Bree and Her Lady Pirates” at 4 p.m. today and 10 a.m. Saturday at Tibbits Opera House, 14 S. Hanchett St., Coldwater, Mich. For information, go to www.tibbits.org.

•Auditions will be held for Fort Wayne Civic Theatre’s production of “The Farnsworth Invention” at 2 p.m. Sunday in the East Rehearsal Hall of Arts United Center, 303 E. Main St.

STATE THESPIAN CONFERENCE: Huntington University, Huntington, will host the State Thespian Conference from Jan. 20 to 22. The event will include more than 700 of Indiana’s high school thespians.

WORKSHOPS:

•Settlers Inc., will have a period-costume workshop for a Lucy Locket Pocket Purse at 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the Historic Swinney Homestead, 1424 W. Jefferson Blvd. Cost is $10 and includes materials, instruction and refreshments. Reservations are due by Monday; call 260-338-0812.

•All for One Productions will hold a young playwright’s workshop for students in kindergarten through Grade 12 at 9 a.m. Jan. 21 at First Missionary Church, 701 W. Rudisill Blvd. Cost is $15 a person, $10 for a second family member and $5 for each additional family member. To register, call 260-622-4610. A “Fourth Annual Young Playwrights Contest” will be held for students also. Registration is due by Jan. 24 with the plays due by Feb. 13.
