No. 1 Cavs bury Bulldogs

Canterbury’s top-ranked Class A girls basketball team outscored New Haven by 20 points in the second quarter en route to an 85-45 home win Thursday.

The Cavaliers (11-2) pulled away from a 22-14 lead after the first quarter to take a 51-23 halftime lead.

Four players scored in double figures for Canterbury, led by Bailey Farley, who had 26 points.

Kindell Fincher had 18 points and 14 rebounds, Darby Maggard had 17 points, and Aaliyah Gaines had 12 for Canterbury.

Kayla Fendel had 12 points for the Bulldogs (5-9), and Alisha Huffman had 11.

BELLMONT 60, NORTH SIDE 41: Payton Schultz scored 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead host Bellmont (3-12) past North Side (0-14).

Mikala Quinn chipped in with 12 points.

Sierra Miranda led the Redskins with 14 points, and Jacole Jones had 12.

EASTSIDE 71, HAMILTON 56: Austen Brow scored 30 points in Eastside’s home win in an NECC tournament consolation game.

SOUTH ADAMS 76, FORT RECOVERY, OHIO 65: Jacob Werst and Cory Sank were double winners for the host Starfires.
