Komets fall to IceMen

The Komets fell behind early and was never able to recover in a 3-1 road loss Saturday night.

Evansville scored two goals in the first period and added another one in the second to go up 3-0.

Artem Podshendyalov scored a power-play goal in the third for the Komets.

Evansville (19-9-3) outshot Fort Wayne (22-11-1) 37-26.

The Komets are 5-2 against the IceMen this year.

The bad blood continued between the two rivals as the game featured two fights. Evansville’s Mario Boillard picked up a game misconduct for instigating his fight with the Komets’ Jamie Lovell.

In the two games between the Komets and IceMen before Saturday, there were six fights.

The Turner Conference-leading Komets remained a point behind Wichita for the best record in the CHL. Wichita lost to Rapid City 5-3.
