Reports: Irish lose recruit

Notre Dame lost a recruit from the 2012 class for the second time in as many weeks.

Taylor Decker, an offensive tackle from Butler High School in Vandalia, Ohio, switched his oral commitment to Ohio State on Sunday, according to multiple reports. Decker’s de-commitment comes a week after cornerback Ronald Darby backed out of his pledge.

Decker’s decision to commit to the Buckeyes was reported by Blue and Gold Illustrated, Irish Sports Daily and Irish Illustrated.

The 6-foot-8, 313-pounder will be reunited with former Irish offensive line coach Ed Warinner and running backs coach Tim Hinton. The former Notre Dame assistants joined Urban Meyers staff at Ohio State last week.

Decker is rated a four-star recruit by Rivals.com.

Decker’s de-commitment drops the Irish’s recruiting class to 16. National signing day is Feb. 1.
