Verbatim: I-69 accident sends one to the hospital

From a written report received Wednesday morning from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department:

At 11:04 p.m. Tuesday night a 1997 Dodge Caravan, driven by Joe Chen of Baton Rouge, LA., was traveling northbound on Interstate 69 near the 123 mile marker.

A recovery vehicle driven by Andrew C. Schwehn of Fort Wayne, was traveling northbound I-69 and turning around at the 123 mile marker crossover.

Chen's vehicle struck the rear end of the recovery vehicle causing damage to the passenger side rear. The Caravan sustained damage to the entire front causing both front air bags to deploy.

Chen was transported to Parkview Main for treatment of chest pain.

DeKalb County Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Indiana State Police, Auburn Fire Rescue and DeKalb EMS.
