State parks look forward to Super Bowl surge

TERRE HAUTE — Hotels in downtown Indianapolis aren't the only innkeepers looking to lure Super Bowl fans.

The Tribune Star reports reservations at Indiana's state park inns are also enjoying a surge.

The Fort Harrison State Park Inn in Indianapolis already is full for the Feb. 5 weekend. But other state inns offer rustic lodging within a couple of hours' drive of the city.

Shakamak State Park in Jasonville offers cabins for $40 a day and up, and cabins are also available at Whitewater State Park near Liberty. Both sites are about 90 minutes from Indianapolis. Brown County State Park's Abe Martin Lodge still has rooms starting at $99 a night.

Turkey Run Inn general manager Terry Brush says visitors may not be aware of the option state parks provide.
