Shooter's Comments:
The falling in love with your house illustration was tough, especially on a major time crunch, but in the end it turned out okay. So I bought a little bouquet of daises at a flower shop, and I had a model and someone's house to use for the illustration.
When I got there it was perfect lighting. The sun was hitting the front of this house just right. I did a variety of photos, having the model do some really awkward things. I am sure the neighbors had fun watching us act like idiots.
The photo I ended up using was a silhouette of the model holding the flowers. I am not sure if it says exactly what the story is about but it ended up being an interesting photo, at least.
Of course, coming back to the office after the shoot, I was brain storming other cool ideas with the photographers here. As news photographers, these are things that we are challenged with all the time. Our job is to try to take the best story-telling photo for whatever assignment, no matter how last-minute the assignment may be.
