Win at Quad City keeps Komets atop conference

The Komets remained atop the Turner Conference with a 4-1 road win over Quad City on Sunday.

The Komts (24-11-2), who entered the game a point ahead of Evansville, broke out to a 3-0 lead through two periods against Quad City (21-16-1).

Stephon Thorne’s goal just 2:33 into the game gave the Komets a lead that goalkeeper Nick Boucher never relinquished.

Boucher stopped 32 of 33 shots, with the only Quad City goal coming in the third period on a power-play score from Brandon Marino.

The Komets got second-period goals from Jean-Michel Rizk and Brent Henley, and Chris Auger closed out the scoring in the third.
