Tim Thomas is absolutely right. As a free American, it was his right to snub the prresident and not go to Washington to be honored with the rest of the Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins.
But please, please, please, spare us the windblown nonsense about how oppressed we all are these days by the out-of-control federal government. Not when you made -- let's see -- $6 million last year in a dream job most people would kill to have.
Frankly, if Tim Thomas wants to feel oppressed by that, have at it. But don't expect those who actually know hardship to take him seriously -- like, say, all those auto workers who lost their jobs in Thomas' hometown of Flint, Mich., because the free market absolutists and their paid henchmen in Washington greased the skids for their employers to ship their jobs to Mexico.
Now that's oppression.
