Ants get replacement for Famous

Monday's fears of the Mad Ants became a Tuesday reality when the team signed 7-foot-1 center Mike Tisdale to fill in for an injured Jarrid Famous.

The 6-11 Famous sat out Monday's practice with a twisted knee, and isn't expected to play at Rio Grande Valley on Wednesday or at Tulsa, Okla., on Friday and Saturday.

Brought in as a replacement for the often-injured Chris Hunter, whom the Ants finally gave up on, Famous averaged 11.1 points and 8.5 rebounds over eight games with the Ants.

Tisdale, who played at the University of Illinois, was with the Maine Red Claws for eight games earlier in the season. He averaged 13.6 minutes of playing time, 3.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks.

It's a good guess, though, that as soon as Famous gets healthy, Tisdale will be sent back into the D-League player pool, from where he was plucked.
