Luers girls top Norwell in OT

– No. 2 got No. 1. Barely.

Bishop Luers, ranked second in 2A, needed overtime but got the job done against 3A No. 1 Norwell on Tuesday, winning 43-40 in a showdown of girls basketball powers at Luers.

Miracle Woods scored 15 points and Jamesha Ridley 15 to lead the Knights.

For Norwell, Jessica Rupright scored 18 points to lead all scorers. Jami Reinhard added 10.

CANTERBURY 104, WHITKO 68: Canterbury bolted to a 27-13 lead after a quarter and kept right on bolting at Canterbury.

Darby Maggard scored 28 points, Bailey Farley 24, Aaliyah Gaines 21 and Kindell Fincher 21 for Canterbury.

SOUTHERN WELLS 53, SOUTHWOOD 46: Preston Mallory scored 26 points and Southern Wells turned a 26-13 halftime lead into a win at home.

NORTHROP 66, COLUMBIA CITY 58: Aleah Swary scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the visiting Bruins, who led 20-13 after a quarter and never looked back.

Quila Jackson added 18 points and Paige Wright 10 for the Bruins. Kalisha Goree led Columbia City with 18.

SNIDER 65, DEKALB 51: Meredith Shipman’s 19 points led the Panthers at DeKalb.

Akilah Sims added 14 and Kari Barnes 10.

BISHOP DWENGER 45, LEO 44: Host Dwenger handed Leo only its third loss of the season behind Eleni Shea’s 15 points and 12 from Olivia Fawcett.

Keanna Gary led the Lions with 17 points and 14 rebounds.
