Mayor Tom Henry on Thursday said his search for a new No. 2 is well underway.
Henry said the city has received several dozen applicants from across the country for the deputy mayor position and has already interviewed a few of them.
Deputy Mayor Beth Malloy left her post this month to take a job working for Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn.
Henry said he plans to spend the next two weeks narrowing the field and hopes to appoint a new deputy in the next four to six weeks.
Malloy was Henry’s third deputy mayor, following Mark Becker and Greg Purcell.
