IPFW 0-for-South Dakota State

IPFW's men's and women's basketball teams went 0-for-2 Saturday against South Dakota State on Saturday at the Gates Center.

The women lost 76-66, which was followed by the men getting blasted, 74-43.

It was men's coach Tony Jasick who apologized to the IPFW fans and even to the school's marketing department for the poor showing.

The announced crowd of 1,856 was, according to IPFW athletic director Tommy Bell, about 100 tickets short of a sellout.

Jasick said he felt the fans were ready to support the team. The problem was they didn't have much to cheer about.

The Mastodons fell behind by 13 points at the half, and it just kept getting worse after that.

Junior center Mario Hines had 12 points to lead IPFW, and Frank Gaines had 10.
