Nominations
St. Mary Catholic Church is accepting nominations for the 2012 Father Tom OConnor Light of Christ Award. The award committee is looking for people of all faith traditions who are high school age or older and volunteer in the educational realm. Classes/workshops
St. Joseph-Hessen Cassel, 11337 Old Decatur Road South, will have its Parish Mission from Sunday through Wednesday. Each day will feature a different topic, and all sessions begin at 6:30 p.m. For information, call 639-3748.

Lifetree Café will show a filmed interview with Tom Shadyac, who directed films including Ace Ventura, Patch Adams and Bruce Almighty, from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at New Ground Coffee Co., 5925 N. Clinton St.
Fundraiser
Our Hope Lutheran Church, 1826 Trinity Drive in Huntertown, will have a pancake and sausage breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Feb. 4. The cost is $5 for adults, $2 for children 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and younger.
St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church, 15535 Lincoln Highway E., is having a pancake and sausage breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. The cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children 5 to 13 and free for children 4 and younger.
Special events
The River Christian Church, 1515 Magnavox Way, will celebrate its new, permanent building with a dedication ceremony between its 9:15 and 11 a.m. services Sunday.
St. Albans Episcopal Church, 7308 St. Joe Road, will celebrate its 50th anniversary at the 5 p.m. service on Friday. Dinner will follow at 7 p.m.
Socrates Café will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House, 5310 Old Mill Road.
Christs Hope Ministries & Church, 2818 Carroll Road, will have a movie night at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The event will begin with a chili supper, followed by the film Courageous.
