IPFW vs. South Dakota State

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Gates Center

Records: IPFW 10-10, 4-7 Summit League; South Dakota State 16-6, 8-2

Radio: 1380 AM

Key matchup: The problem the last time these two teams played on Dec. 28 in Brookings, S.D.: There was no matchup where IPFW was concerned. The Mastodons got mauled 94-58, particularly in the second half when they hit just 6 of 24 shots and were outscored 48-21. The Jackrabbits had 21 assists to IPFW’s eight, and 45 rebounds compared to IPFW’s 31.

The skinny: The 1,100-plus fans inside the Gates Center made enough noise for 5,000 inside Memorial Coliseum, and consequently, IPFW fed off the emotion for a 75-66 win Thursday over North Dakota State. But SDSU is better, led by Wolters, who could be one of the top three players in the conference. … South Dakota State had a three-game winning streak broken Thursday in a 92-87 loss at Oakland. … IPFW is planning another “white out” in which fans are encouraged to wear white. … The men’s game will follow the 4:30 p.m. women’s game between IPFW and South Dakota State.
