Key matchup: The problem the last time these two teams played on Dec. 28 in Brookings, S.D.: There was no matchup where IPFW was concerned. The Mastodons got mauled 94-58, particularly in the second half when they hit just 6 of 24 shots and were outscored 48-21. The Jackrabbits had 21 assists to IPFWs eight, and 45 rebounds compared to IPFWs 31.
The skinny: The 1,100-plus fans inside the Gates Center made enough noise for 5,000 inside Memorial Coliseum, and consequently, IPFW fed off the emotion for a 75-66 win Thursday over North Dakota State. But SDSU is better, led by Wolters, who could be one of the top three players in the conference. South Dakota State had a three-game winning streak broken Thursday in a 92-87 loss at Oakland. IPFW is planning another white out in which fans are encouraged to wear white. The mens game will follow the 4:30 p.m. womens game between IPFW and South Dakota State.
