The campaign for U.S. Rep. Joe Donnelly, who seeks the Democratic nomination for senator, reported Tuesday that it has raised $1.4 million in campaign donations to date and has $847,000 in cash on hand.
Donnelly, D-2nd, "has raised more for his campaign than any challenger to Senator Richard Lugar in his entire 35-year career," Donnelly's campaign said in a statement.
The campaign for Lugar, R-Ind., said Monday it ended 2011 with $4 million in cash on hand. To date, Lugar's campaign has raised nearly $4.6 million in contributions.
Lugar is being challenged in the Republican primary election by state Treasurer Richard Mourdock, whose campaign has raised close to $1.2 million to date and has $362,000 in cash.
