Pharmacy robbed of drugs

Police are looking for a man who robbed a Walgreens pharmacy on the city’s north end early Tuesday.

The man walked into the store at 10412 Coldwater Road at 12:36 a.m., went to the pharmacy counter and handed the pharmacist a note demanding Opana, said officer Raquel Foster, police spokeswoman.

It appeared that he had a weapon in his pocket, she said, and he threatened to shoot the employee.

Opana is a brand name for oxymorphone, a powerful painkiller.

The man took the drugs and fled on foot to the north, police said. Police said he was wearing jeans, a gray hooded sweatshirt and possibly a surgical mask. He was described as white or Hispanic.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Department at 427-1222 or CrimeStoppers at 436-7867.
