Molesting charge added in battery, neglect case

Combs

Allen County prosecutors added a new charge to the list of charges against Michael A. Combs, the 26-year-old man accused of physically abusing his children in the home where he lived.

In September, Combs; Shanna Vorndran, 25; and Anna Hogan, 31 were all charged with two counts of neglect of a dependent causing serious bodily injury. Combs was also charged with battery, according to court documents.

Earlier this week, prosecutors added a more serious charge against Combs, Class A felony child molesting. He is accused of performing a sex act on one of the children he'd been accused of abusing earlier.

When the child was examined at the Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Treatment Center in September 2010, forensic examiners found evidence of sexual abuse, according to court documents.

Vorndran left her two children home with Combs while she worked, according to court documents. The three adults all lived in the same home with the children.

Vorndran pleaded guilty last month to the neglect charges, with a prison sentence capped at six years, according to court documents.
