Key matchup: Jack Haupt, who averages less than 7 points, made 7 of 9 three-pointers and scored 21 points to help the Leathernecks beat IPFW 75-65 Jan. 7 at Memorial Coliseum. In the same game, Gaines scored 30 points for the Mastodons but was the only IPFW player in double figures.
The skinny: Its the beginning of a key two-game road trip for IPFW, with the second game coming Saturday at IUPUI. The Mastodons are coming off a 74-43 loss to South Dakota State at the Gates Center. The 43 points are the fewest since losing to North Dakota State by the same score on New Years Eve 2008. Seven of IPFWs final eight games of the regular season are on the road, with the only home game against Summit League-leading Oral Roberts on Feb. 15.
