Man fatally shot near Ball State, officer injured

MUNCIE – Muncie police are investigating a report of an officer being shot and the coroner says a suspect has died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The Star Press reports (http://tspne.ws/yqrbet) it appears that a police officer suffered superficial wounds to his chest and chin. The officer had blood on his forehead and was standing and talking to investigators before being placed on a stretcher by paramedics.

Details were not immediately available. A telephone message was left for Muncie police by The Associated Press.

Delaware County coroner Scott Hahn said the suspect died of multiple gunshot wounds.
