•The Mary Penrose Wayne Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, awarded the following high school students DAR Good Citizens Awards: James Myers of Bishop Dwenger, Morgen Figel of Bishop Luers, Anne Canavati of Canterbury, Eric Niebuhr of Carroll, Serene Macraig of Concordia, Issac Steury of Leo Junior-Senior, Caleb Heckley of New Haven, Logan Gilbert of Northrop, Leah Anne Painter of Snider, Morgan Clarke of South Side and Courtney Widdifield of Woodlan Junior/Senior.

Giving back

Fort Wayne Tractor Supply Co. helped raise $1,123 for the Allen County 4-H by selling paper clovers at its store. The store was the top seller in Indiana.

Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana and Hamil, Lehman and England sponsored the “Perfect Gift” blood drive during the holiday season that collected 149 pints.

United Healthcare awarded $1,000 to Tina Cumbey of Fort Wayne for the S.M.A.R.T. (Service, Multipurpose, Activity, Really cool, Teaching) Garden Greenhouse Project for youth on the donated grounds of Southwinds Church.

•Fort Wayne children were fitted recently with hearing aids through the non-profit HearCare Connection and Starkey Hearing Foundation. Local audiologists Ken Stewart of HearCare Audiology, Dr. Tina Sheehan of Focus Audiology and Mark Carter of Carter Hearting assisted.

•The Fort Wayne Medical Society Alliance with the assistance of Peerless Cleaners are collecting gently used formal dresses to be given to young women to attend prom. The 11th annual Cinderella Dress Day will be March 17 at the Boys & Girls Clubs on Fairfield Avenue. Dresses can be dropped off at any Peerless Cleaners location through March 9.

Molly Maid of Fort Wayne has launched a donation drive “Operation Clean and Warm” to help the YWCA Northeast Indiana. Molly Maid clients can leave new socks, underwear or coats with their housekeepers, who will then donate the items to the YWCA Crisis Shelter, which serves victims of domestic violence.

•The Allen County SPCA volunteer orientation dates for February are Monday for those interested in administrative help and maintenance; Feb. 13 for dog enrichment training and assisting with outreach events; and Feb. 20 for cat socialization training. •The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo will conduct a volunteer information fair from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Franke Park Main Pavilion.
