Jets rout ACAC rival Lions

In an ACAC showdown, it was an ACAC throwdown for the host Adams Central Flying Jets.

Adams Central (12-2, 6-0) got 23 points from Maverick Baumer and 17 from Isaac Luginbill in its 90-64 conference win over Leo (9-8, 5-1).

Gage Corner led the Lions with 21 points.

Wrestling

ROCHESTER REGIONAL: Warsaw’s Jared Brooks won the 113-pound regional title at Rochester. Brooks (27-0) was the only Warsaw champion. The Tigers qualified two for the semistate in Merrillville.

GOSHEN REGIONAL: Connor Knapp at 106 pounds and Lucas Riecke at 138 won individual titles for East Noble. The Knights qualified eight for Saturday’s semistate. DeKalb had six qualifiers, led by champions Zach Krumlauf (120) and Connor Brummett (145). Angola’s Zach Beebe won at 152.

JAY COUNTY REGIONAL: Bellmont had three champions and eight qualifiers for Saturday’s semistate in Fort Wayne, Adams Central had eight qualifiers and one champ, and South Adams had seven qualifiers and two champions. Bellmont winners were Brooks Faurote (145), Brad Busse (182) and Ben Baker (195). South Adams’ champs were Sawyer Miller (106) and Todd Batt (132). Other area champions were Adams Central’s Chantz Luginbill (160), Norwell’s Kyle Short (285) and Southern Wells’ Seth Biberstine (220).

PERU REGIONAL: Kyle Jolas (138), Sebastian Eckert (145) and Andrew Mason (285) won for Huntington North, which advanced seven into the Fort Wayne Semistate.

Girls swimming

JAY COUNTY SECTIONAL: South Adams freshman Cady Farlow won the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke – the latter in a sectional record time of 1:07.75 – to lead area swimmers at Jay County. Rachel Emshwiller of Bluffton won the 500-yard freestyle, and Kimberlee Bussey of Norwell claimed the 100-yard backstroke. Bellmont was third with 262 points. Muncie Central won with 463.

WARSAW SECTIONAL: Huntington North senior Sara Karst won the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events. Ashley Van Wormer of Warsaw won the 100-yard breaststroke, Libby Bower of Columbia City won the 100-yard butterfly, and Warsaw won the 200 freestyle relay. Columbia City was second with 240 points, behind Culver Academies’ 430.

Gymnastics

LAKELAND INVITATIONAL: DeKalb won the team event with a 107.65 total, while Carroll finished second with 106.45 points, and Angola was third with 105.9. Angola’s Alex Nickel was the all-around champion with 38.1 points, and DeKalb’s Kiya Hill was second with 37.850.

Bowling

FORT WAYNE REGIONAL: Carroll won the boys’ division and Columbia City claimed the girls’ division in the ISHB regional at Georgetown Bowl. Homestead’s Sydney Brummett was the girls’ stepladder champion with a game of 190, and Snider’s Eric Patterson won the boys’ stepladder title with a 198.
