IPFW loses at Chicago State

CHICAGO – Lee Fisher had a double-double and Chicago State closed the game with a 17-2 run to defeat IPFW 63-57 in a non-conference game Tuesday night.

Trey McCorkle paced the Mastodons (10-14) with 21 points. Frank Gaines scored 16 for IPFW, a Summit League team that dropped its fourth in a row.

The Mastodons led 55-46 with 4 minutes to go. But then Fisher’s basket started the 17-2 run on which the Cougars finished the game. Simmons’ three-pointer with 1:47 left gave Chicago State the lead for good at 56-55.

Fisher scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Cougars (3-20), who broke a three-game losing streak.

Jacobby Anderson added 11 points and Ardarius Simmons 10 for Chicago State of the Great West Conference, which defeated IPFW for the first time in school history, having been 0-5.
