Grammys to spotlight club music

The dance/electronic music phenomenon will be recognized at the Grammys for the first time with an ambitious club segment.

Sunday’s performance is set to feature the Foo Fighters, David Guetta, deadmau5, Chris Brown and Lil Wayne.

And while the Grammys will be held at Staples Center in Los Angeles, the dance segment will take place outside the venue in a tent with about 1,000 fans inside.

The Recording Academy also said Tuesday that Rihanna, Carrie Underwood and Tony Bennett will perform during the show. Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt will pay tribute to late singer Etta James.

Chicago among Madonna tour dates

Madonna’s not finished with stadiums.

Live Nation Entertainment announced Tuesday that the Material Girl’s first tour since 2009 will include a Sept. 6 show at Yankee Stadium.

Her world tour will start May 29 in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The North American portion of the tour will include Montreal and Cleveland. Her closest stop to our area will be Chicago on Sept. 19.

Tickets for most of the U.S. shows go on sale Feb. 13.

Woman charged in alleged TLC plot

An Iowa woman has been charged with extortion in an alleged plot to get Discovery Communications Inc. to cancel the TLC show “19 Kids and Counting” or pay her $10,000.

The woman is accused of threatening to release photos of a cast member in “apparently intimate situations” to a magazine.

Teresa Hunt, of Bettendorf, is charged in U.S. District Court in Davenport with one count of extortion.

According to an affidavit, Hunt sent a letter in January to the parent company of TLC describing a musician and providing details of an affair with a cast member. The program is about a family with 19 children.

Hunt was arrested Feb. 1.
