A 23-year-old mother accused of bringing her child to an attempted bank robbery was given a suspended sentence Tuesday in Allen Superior Court.
Molly M. Hutmacher pleaded guilty in January to attempted robbery. As part of her plea agreement, an additional charge of neglect of a dependent was dismissed.
According to court documents, Hutmacher drove her boyfriend, Michael J. Boester, to the Freedom Financial Credit Union at 1802 Inwood Drive in November.
Boester went in to rob the credit union, but a customer elbowed him and then chased him outside. The customer then memorized the license plate number of the vehicle driven by Hutmacher.
Allen Superior Court Judge John Surbeck gave Hutmacher a suspended four-year prison sentence. He gave her four years on probation, with the first year on community control.
He also ordered her to submit to psychological and substance abuse evaluation and treatment.
