FORT WAYNE -- Police looking for suspects with arrest warrants on Fort Wayne's west side stumbled upon eight active meth labs and 28 used devices.
At 4:25 p.m. Tuesday, members of the Fort Wayne Police Department Vice and Narcotics Division and deputies with the U.S. Marshal Service were following upon a tip that a man and woman with arrest warrants were living at a home in the 2000 block of Elyetta Street, according to a written statement issued by Det. Sgt. Joel Squadrito.
It said officers could smell the strong odor of chemicals used to make meth coming from inside the home.
They report finding the active and previously used one-pot method meth labs, as well as narcotics paraphernalia and marijuana inside the home.
Joy Denise Hughes, 36, and James D. Lipscomb, 25, were each charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of two or more meth precursors, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance, according to the police statement.
Bond information was not immediately available.
