Halfcourt shot lifts Woodlan

Lauren Ehle started Woodlan’s girls basketball postseason run with an incredible game-winning basket.

The junior guard sank a halfcourt shot at the buzzer to give the Warriors a 46-44 victory over Bishop Dwenger on Tuesday at the Class 3A Garrett Sectional.

“It’s a pretty amazing shot,” Woodlan coach Tonya Burns-Cohrs said. “We are all in shock. The girls executed the game plan to a T.”

Ehle finished with 18 points as the Warriors (13-8) advanced to play No. 7 Concordia (15-5) on Friday.

Ally Christman scored 12 for Dwenger (10-10).

Class 4A

HOMESTEAD 66, JAY COUNTY 47: Emily Bley scored 17 as the Spartans (18-5) crushed the Patriots (11-10) at Homestead. The Spartans play No. 3 South Side (20-1) on Friday.

WAYNE 48, HUNTINGTON NORTH 41: Imani Moore’s 16 points lifted the Generals (8-12) over the Vikings (6-15) at Homestead. Wayne plays New Haven (6-14) on Friday.

Class 3A

WAWASEE 38, LAKELAND 34: KiLee Knafel scored 22 to lead the Warriors (6-15) past the Lakers (5-16) at Wawasee. Wawasee plays West Noble (12-9) on Friday.

FREMONT 56, CENTRAL NOBLE 24: Liz Carlson scored 12 as the Eagles (13-9) blew out the Cougars (0-21) at Westview. Fremont will play LaVille (6-14) on Friday.

FAIRFIELD 52, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 43: Haley Bechtel scored 16 to lead the Falcons (16-5) past the Vikings (15-6) at Wawasee. Fairfield plays NorthWood (19-3) on Friday.

Staci Groom scored 19 for the Vikings.

WHITKO 73, MISSISSINEWA 43: Karissa Olinske scored 17 to lead the Wildcats (9-12) past the Indians (1-20) at Mississinewa sectional. Whitko plays Bellmont (4-16) on Friday.

HAMILTON 55, HOWE 20: Lindsey Stoy scored 17 for the Marines (10-11) in a win over the Cadets (0-4) at Lakewood Park.
