FORT WAYNE – Prosecutors presented hours of forensic evidence and expert testimony to an Allen Superior Court jury during the second day of Patrick Flukers murder trial.
The 20-year-old Fluker is accused of fatally shooting 29-year-old Tiffany Mendez on Sept. 3, 2010. He is also accused of stealing a blue Cadillac from the parking lot of a Fort Wayne restaurant, a car that was found at the scene of the homicide in the area of Broadway and Parkview Avenue.
On Wednesday, the jury heard from crime scene technicians, firearms examiners, a forensic pathologist and a sexual assault nurse examiner.
The jurors learned that the bullet removed from Mendezs body had been fired from a handgun found near the scene.
That handgun was found on the roof of a building, and police found Fluker nearby, urinating on the wall of the same building, according to court documents. Officers were responding to a call of gunshots and as one officer took Fluker into custody, others found Mendezs naked body. Fluker had the keys to the stolen Cadillac.
In Flukers pocket was a receipt for a box of Winchester 9 mm ammunition purchased at a Walmart the day before. The shell casings and a live round found at the scene were all Winchester 9 mm bullets, according to testimony.
Also testifying Wednesday were friends and family of Fluker, who saw him driving the Cadillac in the days leading up to the shooting.
