And Another Thing

Indianapolis Colts' Peyton Manning presents the AP MVP Player of the Year during the inaugural NFL Honors show Saturday in Indianapolis.

Stop the presses

Well, that's a load off everybody's mind.

After a couple of days of speculation that called to mind UFO sightings (Hey, I saw Peyton Manning! He was working out! And, no, it wasn't a weather balloon!) Duke University confirmed that Manning was indeed working out on campus with an old Tennessee teammate, Todd Helton of the Colorado Rockies, and their old offensive coordinator at Tennessee, David Cutcliffe.

OK, first of all: Why was this being treated like a state secret?

Second of all, in relation to the first-of-all: Why is this significant?

I mean, isn't it common knowledge that Peyton has been working out (i.e., rehabbing) in some form or fashion for months now? And if he was going to do that, why wouldn't he do it under the guidance of someone with whom he was familiar and had worked with before?

Don't get the secrecy surrounding this. Or why it's being treated as such a big story.
